U.C. students will work with 8th grade pupils in the Montera's Technology Lab 2000, a technology-based science course designed to provide hands-on cooperative learning experiences and a broad exposure to many different technologies, high-tech tools of technology, and technological concepts. Participants work with pupils to develop problem-solving, critical-thinking, research, and documentation skills at various computerized and non-computerized learning stations. Little outside lesson preparation is expected; however, weekly reading and a written evaluation of their experience at Montera will be required. Montera Junior High School is a multi-ethnic public school in the Oakland Unified School District located in the Montclair District.
