From Pictures to Scientific Representations


This project investigates meta-representational competence and its relation to conceptual development. Meta-representational competence describes knowledge about representing scientific concepts and phenomena in a pictorial form. The project will also design research classroom instructional activities that effectively utilize and develop meta-representational competence.

The project is funded by the National Science Foundation. Andrea diSessa is the principal investigator.
