The M-CLASS Site-Based Network

The M-CLASS Site-Based Network is a collaborative teacher research project in which teams of teacher researchers from three Bay Area school districts investigate questions of literacy learning in multicultural urban schools. The network is linked with the original M-CLASS teacher research project which Sarah Warshauer Freedman and Elizabeth Radin Simons began in 1991 under the auspices of the National Center for the Study of Writing. For the Site-Based Network three experienced M-CLASS teacher researchers each invited two colleagues to establish a research team at their school. Each school team is investigating an area of literacy that is important for their school. As a result of their research the groups are leading change efforts at their schools.

The principal investigator is Sarah Warshauer Freedman.
