Longitudinal Study of the Effectiveness of a Pre-K
Multisensory Literacy Curriculum, Teacher Experience, and
Professional Development on Children's Learning Outcomes
Supported by a major grant from the Institute of Educational Sciences
at the U.S. Department of Education, this study will run until 2007.
The study examines the growth of literacy and language in preschool
age children living in poverty. It explores how different learning
environments and curricula may influence young children's development
in these domains. It is also investigating how different forms of
professional development for early childhood educators may influence
their beliefs and attitudes and pedagogy in the teaching of literacy
to young children.
