S
ophia Rabe-Hesketh is a statistician conducting methodological research in multilevel and latent variable modeling. She has developed a modeling framework called GLLAMM (Generalized Linear Latent and Mixed Modeling) and written a publicly available software package called gllamm (http://www.gllamm.org/) to estimate these models. The theory of these models is published in Generalized Latent Variable Modeling, co-authored with Anders Skrondal, and in papers published in Psychometrika, Journal of Econometrics, Biometrics, and Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A, among others. Since 2002, the gllamm software has been used in over 700 peer-reviewed papers in over 450 different journals by researchers in education, sociology, political science, economics, medicine, and statistics.

Sophia Rabe-Hesketh is a member of the technical advisory groups for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA). She is co-editor for Statistical Methods in Medical Research and associate editor for Psychometrika among others, as well as serving on editorial boards for Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics and others.

Sophia Rabe-Hesketh is also a member of the Interdepartmental Group in Biostatistics and has a part-time position as Professor of Social Statistics at the Department of Quantitative Social Science, Institute of Education, University of London, UK.
