ina Gabelko is director of the Academic Talent Development Program, a summer program for children from kindergarten to 12th grade. ATDP provides enrichment and acceleration in a diverse environment for 2,000 students a year from hundreds of schools, from San Francisco to Coalinga. Her research interests are teaching gifted students, K—12; teacher education; professional growth of teachers; and social studies education. Gabelko has served as a board member of Phi Delta Kappa. She edited Cornerstones of Collaboration,a collection of essays on the potential of partnerships to transform education(National Writing Project, 1998). She is the author with John U. Michaelis of Reducing Adolescent Prejudice: A Handbook.Her other writings include "Collaborating for Educational Excellence and Heterogeneity: The Academic Talent Development Program–A Case Study," in Cornerstones of Collaboration;"Age and Gender Differences in Global, Academic, Social, and Athletic Self-Concepts in Academically Talented Students," presented at the 1997 annual meeting of the AERA; "Things They Don’t Always Teach in School," in Educator(1991); "Mentoring," in The CAG Communicator(1990); and "Prejudice Reduction in Secondary Schools," in Social Education(1988).
