aniel Zimmerlin directs MACSME, the Graduate School of Education’s pioneering program for teacher education in mathematics and the sciences. Before joining the Berkeley faculty, he taught junior high school mathematics in the Oakland Unified School District for 17 years, where he also acted as a mentor for student teachers. His interests are student thinking and learning, mathematics instructional methods, technology in education, and diversity and equity issues. He is a member of the California Mathematics Council, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Phi Delta Kappa.
