Cognition and Development

Cognition and Development focuses on the interplay among cognitive, social, and developmental processes in diverse areas of human knowledge and experience. The faculty concentrate on learning in mathematics, science, and technology, as well as broader cognitive, social, and moral development. Faculty research typically occurs in field settings (classrooms, museums, informal social groups), providing fertile sites for theoretical advances as well as the improvement of educational practices. The Cognition and Development area of study supports both professional and academic programs, each enriching the other in courses and research opportunities.
