GSE Research Day Offers Breadth and Depth

Vicki Benson and David Pearson Rick Ayers Jose Guitterez Brandon Nicholson
James Andretta and School Psychology coordinator Carolyn Hartsough converse at Andretta's poster session. Janet Casperson held a roundtable consultation on her paper on onderstanding a general phenomenon. Jose Francisco Gutierrez discussed his paper about inking sociology to constructivism. Brandon Nicholson discussed his perspective on Black males' athletic and academic aspirations.

With 87 attendees and 95 presenters, GSE faculty and students gathered for GSE Research Day on March 14 to share and showcase their works in progress.

Research Day coordinator Mary Alice Callahan was particularly pleased with the faculty support and attendance, which included the tireless efforts of Spencer Faculty Coordinator Judith Warren Little, nearly a dozen faculty members who helped organize student/faculty panels and another 12 who lent their support. Roundtable and poster sessions proved popular with faculty and students engaged in conversations across program areas.

Despite its successes, the future of Research Day is still in doubt, since the Spencer Research Training Grant expires this year (see related news item), although Little said that she hopes to use surplus Spencer funds to keep it going.
