Kramsch Recognized
for Distinguished Scholarship
and Service

Claire Kramsch, professor of German and Education Language and Literacy,
Society and Culture received the Distinguished Scholarship and Service
Award from the American Association for Applied Linguistics.
The award recognizes and honors a distinguished scholar for her/his
scholarship and her/his service to the profession in general and to
the American Association for Applied Linguistics in particular.
Kramsch, the director of the Berkeley Language
Center, is not a stranger to career honors. In 2000, she received
both UC Berkeley’s Distinguished
Teaching Award and the Distinguished Service Award from the Modern
Language Association. In 1998, the Federal Republic of Germany bestowed
on her the Goethe Medal in recognition of her work in fostering intercultural
dialogue.
Kramsch will
give a lecture at the event in her honor on Monday April 23 at the
meetings of the American Association for Applied Linguistics
in Costa Mesa.
