Endowments

The Graduate School of Education welcomes gifts to name endowed funds. Gift principal is held intact in perpetuity and invested. Some earnings are reinvested annually so that principal grows and retains its purchasing power. The remaining earnings, generally 4-5 percent of the principal, provide a steady flow of income for the purposes designated by the donor.

The University has set minimum gift levels for certain types of endowments. This ensures that sufficient income is available annually to support their designated purpose. Endowments may be named for the donor, or in memory or in honor of a relative, friend, or faculty member designated by the donor.

Named endowments may established with the following gifts:

$1 million Distinguished Professorship
$500,000 Endowed Chair
$300,000 Faculty Research Fellowship
$300,000 Graduate Fellowship
$100,000 Faculty Research Fund (allocated at the discretion of the Dean or Area Speaker)
$50,000 Dean's Endowment (used at the discretion of the Dean)
$10,000 Named Endowment (unrestricted or to be used for any programmatic purpose agreed upon by the donor and the School)
