II. ETSC SERVICES AND FACILITIES


A. EQUIPMENT LOANS

The following kinds of equipment are loaned without charge to Graduate School of Education personnel:

* audiocassette recorders
* VHSvideo record and playback decks
* 8mm playback decks
* slide projectors
* 16mm projectors
* overhead projectors
* portable screens
* dissolve units
* camcorders (VHS, 8mm)
* lecturns
* video monitors (tv)
* transcription machines (standard cassette and 1 micro-cassette)
* audio and video production accessories (microphones, mixers, cables, adapters, chords, etc.)
* tripods
* multimedia projectors (one with 3-D camera)
* overhead projection display panels for computers
* various carts for moving equipment in and around Tolman. These include a large grey cart, handtruck and standard carts.

B. INSTRUCTIONAL LABORATORY AND STUDIO

(See Floor Plan, Appendix B)

1. Video Studio (1650D Tolman)

A video studio within ETSC may be reserved for media classes, seminars, presentations, and special production projects.

2. Audio Production Studio

Tape-to-tape duplication is possible, as is taping from other audio sources. The equipment in the studio includes multi-channel recorders, mixer, compact disc player, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, and other audio accessories.

3. Evelyn Lois Corey Learning Laboratory (1635 Tolman)

This instructional development laboratory is available for Graduate School of Education (GSE) small groups as well as individuals working on education projects. Computers are available for drop-in use by GSE personnel and by qualified developers** and for reservation by School of Education classes between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. M-F. To use one of the Macintosh computers, users need to sign in at the ETSC office in 1650 Tolman.

The following equipment is currently housed in the Computer Lab beginning Fall 2000 semester (see table for current status):

1 PPC 7100AV computers w/ CD ROM drives
1 HP Color Scanner
15 iMACS

(Macs are suplied with Word, Excel, and networking software)

** Qualified Developers are faculty members (or their research assistants) who are developing instructional materials, and recognized by the Instructional Technology Program as developers .

Related peripheral equipment available for check-out or reservation at the ETSC front office includes:

2 LCD projection display panels (for Apple IIs, Mac IIs, IBM CGA/EGA)
1 Syquest 40mb cartridge drive
15 Imation Super drives (3.5" floppy drives)
2 Multi-media projectors (Bringing your own laptop at least one day in advance of your presentation is highly recommended in order to confirm compatibilty)

* ETSC has a collection of educational software programs that may be of use to faculty and students in the Graduate School of Education. This software runs on Apple II computers and is available for check-out purposes through the ETSC office.

* Printing - Laserprinting is available to lab users for $ .10 per page. Laser print outs are picked up and paid for in the ETSC front office. A Laser Print Out card is also available at the ETSC office. You are entitled to 120 print outs for $10.00. Any printer in Tolman Hall can be accessed . For more information contact Beth Muramoto on changing printers.


C. VIDEO SERVICES

* videotape duplication
* videotape editing
* video to audiotape transfer
* 3/4" video transfer
* videotape library (see Appendix C)


D. AUDIO SERVICES

* audiotape duplication (high speed and real time)
* audio recording with mixer


E. MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES

* Xerox and Konica copier maintenance service
* sign making
* engrave equipment
* document binding
* facilities management service requests
* computer account application services


F. FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

ETSC oversees the reporting of problems within the building to Physical Plant/Facilities Management. Problems include:

* door locks and closing mechanisms
* burnt out bulbs (not including desk lamps)
* elevator malfunctions
* ceiling tiles
* water leaks/puddles
* ventilation
* heating

** Note: Telephone problems should be reported to Regina Leroy at 643-6257.


G. COMPUTER SUPPORT SERVICES

* set-up and install computer hardware for department machines
* troubleshoot macintosh related computer problems
* install and update department software
* provide instruction in using virus detection software
* Install network software and hardware
* research computer-related information, and consult with faculty, staff, and students re: software and hardware purchases.
* provide training on various computer-related topics
* maintain and troubleshoot computer lab equipment
* maintain appleshare server for department
* maintain database server for administrative and instructional data
* secure departmental computer equipment
* pick-up and deliver departmental computer equipment for servicing
